As well as traditional wedding rings we also receive orders for more unusual custom made designs. Today I've picked out two sets of wedding rings we've made recently which give you a taste of exactly what is possible when you put your own stamp on your wedding ring design! Both of these couples had a good idea what they were looking for when they contacted us so we just needed to work on the sketches and figure out if we could do their amazing ideas justice. I was really happy with the finished product...as were the happy couples!
The first pair were based on on the wedding vows 'til death do us part' so the couple wanted a pair of rings made in the shape of skeleton bones. I really loved working on these rings. Each ring had five bones making up the band and the curves and 'joints' worked really well creating an elegant design. It looked even better when they went from sketches to being made in white gold.
The curve on the ring also meant that it sat perfectly with the brides engagement ring. We engraved the inside of the rings with the inscription in Irish 'Till death do us part' and added the date of the wedding too.
The second pair of unusual custom wedding rings was this pair of white gold rings with a tyre track design. The couple are interested in motorbike racing and wanted to be able to incorporate this into the design. It's rare that someone brings a set of tyres with them to discuss wedding ring design!!
So I photographed the tyres, the front thinner one was going to be the ladies ring and the back thicker for the mens ring. It's like they were made to be used for wedding rings :) I first made the ring with a curve to create the tyre, these were made in white gold. I then worked on marking out the tyre track design all the way around the rings, slow work when you are trying to copy the lines exactly and scale them down to such a small band. To highlight the design we decided to finish the engraved detail with black rhodium so it would contrast nicely with the white gold rings. The ladies had a polished finish to match the engagement ring while the mens ring had a satin finish.
So there you have just two wedding ring ideas. If you have a design you would love to create in silver, gold or platinum be sure to contact us!
