5 Irish Terms of Endearment

With Christmas only two months away I’ve started working on some custom handmade jewelryorders. I know it might sound a little early to some but it can be the perfect time to work on your ideas, have them made and delivered before the November rush.

Often, our customers have a good idea of what they would like but just need a little inspiration. Over the weekend, I was in touch with one of our regular customers in the US. She and her partner are of Irish decent and she was looking for perfect Irish terms of endearment to include on our modern Claddagh ring for him. As the Claddagh Ring originates in Ireland, it’s always lovely engraving Gaelic inscription on this particular ring. Thankfully there a lots of beautiful Irish phrases I can provide her with and I thought it would be nice to also share with you guys.

  1. Mo chuisle (pronounced mu cooish-la) Many people will know this one from the film Millon Dollar Baby. It literally means my pulse, it’s a shortened version of the phrase ‘A chuisle mo chroí’ pulse of my heart
  2. Mo stoirín (pronounced mu store -een) This is translated as my “little darling”. Stór is the Irish word for my love/my darling so by adding the een onto the end it becomes my little darling.
  3. Anamchara (pronounced ann-am kara) Is the Irish word for “soul mate”.
  4. Mo mhuirnín  (pronounced mu voor-neen ) Like mo stóirín it is the Irish for “my darling” or “my sweetheart”
  5. Mo mhuirnín dílis  (pronounced mu voor-neen deelish) Is the Irish for “my own true love” or “my faithful darling”.
